Marilyn Brophy is a not-for-profit and public company board member and holder of the Chartered Director (C.Dir.) designation. Marilyn’s Board of Directors experience includes Chair of Audit Committee, Chair of Investment Committee, and Member of Human Resources and Compensation Committee. Marilyn is skilled in financial analysis, capital markets/M&A/portfolio management, risk assessment, strategic development, organizational change management, executive compensation and ESG principles. Her expertise spans various industries with a focus on Consumer & Retail, Industrial, Financial Institutions and Real Estate.

Prior to retirement Marilyn was an investment executive and business leader with 31 years of experience in multiple disciplines and acted as builder and leader of one of Canada’s largest buy-side equity research teams. Alongside this role she co-managed approximately $5 billion in equity assets.

Earlier in her career Marilyn served as Director of Equity Research for Scotia Capital (1999–2003) and was named Canada’s top-ranked analyst (retailing and consumer products) in the Brendan Woods annual survey of investment professionals. Between 2003 and 2010 she served in a similar role with UBS Global Asset Management (Canada) where she was in charge of equity research and stock selection for the Canadian retail, consumer, industrial and aerospace sectors.

Marilyn was born with severe hearing loss and wears hearing aids. A current board director, she has also been engaged with various company boards on diverse issues throughout her career, including governance, say-on-pay, strategic direction and capital allocation decisions.
