Grant Buchan-Terrell

Grant Buchan-Terrell, JD, BA

Oakville, ON

Grant Buchan-Terrell has advised public and private corporations since 1978 in Ontario, Manitoba and Alberta. His expertise includes high-level, high-stake corporate and partnership governance, financings, shareholder dispute resolution, venture capital, insolvency, oppression remedies, employment, IP advisory and securities law (due diligence, exempt offerings, advisor registration/regulation and IPOs).

Grant’s private practice has focused exclusively on business law and resolving organizational disputes without resorting to the Courts. For the last 25 years he has honed in on transactions and governance matters and acting as virtual in-house counsel covering contract review, litigation strategies, intellectual property planning, sensitive HR issues and more.

Before founding his own boutique firm on January 1, 2000, Grant had excellent training and large deal experience at large law firms.

From law school to the present, Grant has participated in a wide variety of local, GTA and provincial charities and NFPs, as well as organizations like Toastmasters and Junior Achievement. He has been a regular business law columnist for several Halton and area publications. His affable speaking style has won him many kudos, even at technical seminars.

Grant has lived with Type 2 diabetes since 1998. He also has neuropathy following major back surgery in 2019, such that his mobility is somewhat reduced.
