Toby G. Wong

Toby G. Wong, B.Comm. (Honors), CPACC

Toby Wong is an accomplished global marketer and business executive with P&L experience who broke gender and race barriers over 25 years in Fortune 100 corporations, sports and new businesses. She is a late-deafened Asian female leader with a strong innovation launch track record and passion for creating inclusion and equal pay for women and individuals with disabilities. Toby is open to Board Director and Advisor roles that will capitalize on her strengths in new revenue streams, innovation, brand strategy, marketing communications, crisis management, and disability inclusion.

Toby’s global experience includes progressive marketing roles to the C-suite, VP and director levels at Team USA, Nike, Coca-Cola, and Axient Communications. Highlights include co-launching Coca-Cola USA’s sports marketing group and leading NHL-NBA contracts and activation; serving as Nike’s first Global Women’s Brand Director; launching Nike’s Inner Actives performance apparel business that made its acclaimed global sports bra debut on Brandi Chastain at the Women’s World Cup; and launching Octane media experience via the US web debut of Olympic streaming full-screen video content.

Toby’s appointment at the US Olympic Committee is noteworthy as the highest‐ranking female staff executive (non-volunteer) in 108 years at the world’s largest National Olympic Committee (NOC). She was Team USA’s first female, first Asian and first Canadian Chief Marketing Officer to build the Team USA brand and revenue for America’s teams for the Olympic, Paralympic and Pan American Games. In this role, which included high-profile crisis management, Toby partnered with Team USA’s Board of Directors, executive team, professional staff, and her marketing and entertainment properties department. She also worked closely with key revenue partners, including NBC Sports, sponsors and suppliers, 40+ National Governing Bodies, the International Olympic Committee and the other 190+ NOCs.

Following Team USA, she founded Toby Wong Consulting, which delivers marketing strategies and communications to clients that have included the National Women’s Hockey League (now Professional Women’s Hockey League) and Nike. In 2023, Toby joined the Forbes Communications Council, sharing expert insights in original articles and contributing to expert panels on Forbes.com. Toby was also named as a Judge for the 2024 Ignition Global Innovation Competition for next-gen sports tech companies changing the future of sports.

Toby is deaf and has bilateral cochlear implants. As a late-deafened adult, Toby’s lived experience of corporations denying reasonable accommodations and their lack of understanding of the strong business case for disability inclusion led her to add key accessibility and disability inclusion certifications, including Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator and Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) to her brand strategy, communications and innovation skill set.

Toby serves on the Advisory Board of Directors for Respectability, which fights stigmas and advances opportunities for people with disabilities. Toby also serves as Mentor for Remarkable, a global tech start-up accelerator creating businesses that positively impact people with and without disabilities.
