Patrick Jarvis
Patrick began his career in the energy sector as a Petroleum Technologist in 1981. In this role, he rapidly advanced to managing complex multi-million dollar projects in remote areas with tight timelines. His responsibilities included coordinating multiple parties to ensure key deliverables were achieved on-budget and serving as company representative in a primary communications role.
Subsequently, he moved into training and personnel development, eventually establishing Amarok Training Services of Calgary.
Simultaneous to his career in the energy sector, Patrick held senior leadership positions in various national sports organizations.
Most recently, beginning In 2015, Patrick served a three-year term as executive director of Canada Snowboard, the national governing body for the sport of snowboarding. In 2010, he took on the role of President and CEO of the Canadian Paralympic Foundation (CPF), serving in the position for 18 months. Before that, from 2005 to 2007, he provided leadership to the Halifax 2014 Commonwealth Games Bid as an Advisor, Senior Director and COO. And between 1998 and 2006, he was a member of the Canadian Paralympic Committee, serving as President and Acting CEO from 1999 to 2001.
A left-hand amputee, Patrick has accumulated extensive board experience, including more than twenty years as a board or committee chair.
Additionally, he has had direct involvement with seventeen Olympic and Paralympic Games, with experiences ranging from competing in athletics at the 1992 Paralympic Games to serving as the Chef de Mission for the Canadian Paralympic Team at the 1998 Games in Nagano.
